What makes *real* roll bar padding any differant than the pipe insulating foam you see at the hardware store?
( real question )

MUCH more dense and will slow the impact between your head and the rollbar. Seriously, roll bar padding is part of crash protection. Would you go out on the track in a bicycle helmet?

Plus the fire resistence, I hadn't thought of that. Now I'm tempted to go to the hardware store, buy some foam padding and see how it burns. That would make for a cool thread.
