I got to meet John a few times up here in the cities his 1st wife's family was from Edina a suburb of Minneapolis. John enjoyed playing golf at Minneapolis Golf Club where my Dad is a member.
I knew the organ, piano player in his band and was able to strike up a conversation with him on the golf course one day. When I was a ski racer I spent a great deal of time with my girl friend from Aspen, I met up with John a a few times on the street and he remembered me. Once when I was in town he asked me for advice on ski equipment and I helped him with a ski poles purchase. He was a genuine guy and a great song writer even if your not a fan. Music is subjective thats what makes it great for everyone. I dont listen to John Denver or have any of his music, but I would listen to it if it was on for the memories. |
