I didn't post the information last year and got slamed by you guys. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) So this year I wanted to make sure I posted the information. This will be our 3rd year attending a 20+ year old event. We like to take the caravan up Friday and leave Sunday afternoon.
Last year, we drove the flared orange six I just completed. There was only 3 other 914's there and we had the only six. This year, again I will be driving a recently completed six up there. Probably no flares though. Anyone wanting to come please check out the web site. It is hosted by the CWR and PNWR. http://www.whistlerweekend.org/home.html (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beerchug.gif) So, can we put this in the Nailed or events area? Admins? Forwarded message from Bob Benson, Porsche Whistler Weekend 2005 Chairman.
Please direct your response to Bob at: bobb911sc@shaw.ca Hi Everyone, As we approach the 2005 Porsche International Whistler Weekend I wanted to let you know that the Sea to Sky Highway is in the best shape it has ever been for the last 10 years. Just about all of the construction north of Squamish that affects your driving has been completed. You will be on new asphalt and in some cases, 4 lanes of it. The only active road work at this point starts at Sunset Marina and goes 7 km. north to Lions Bay, after that you are free to enjoy what was one of Road and Track Magazines “Top Ten Highways” in the world. A word of caution; because there is no litmus test for drivers using this highway, there has been increased enforcement of the rules of the road which does include speed, so be careful. Our Whistler Crew recently completed a site inspection and you are in for a real treat with your rooms at the Fairmont Chateau. They are not small and in fact are larger than I expected and we have posted pictures of the hotel on the Whistler website at www.whistlerweekend.org . On the home page click where it says “click here for photo’s of the hotel” and have a look. When you arrive at the Chateau on Friday, you will be directed to park your Porsche in the parking garage, directed by signage and people if you are one who does ask for directions, and then go and check in at the front desk. This is especially paramount for those 50 Porsches driving up with Dennis Rood. You will be in a Porsche only (plus a few W.W. support vehicles) parking area and we ask that you settle in one spot for the weekend. We hope to be able to post your car # on the wall or floor so that you will have that one spot for the weekend. For those of you hauling your cars in trailers, we have secured outdoor parking for you beside the Hotel and within our security zone. You will need directions to that parking. For those of you that are yet to register, the Fairmont Chateau is keeping the room pricing available to you for as long as they have rooms left. We currently have over 120 rooms occupied and with the long range weather forecast looking great, I am told the golfers start taking everything left for the month so please act quick if you want to stay at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. Go to www.whistlerweekend.org and download the registration form, fill it out and fax it off to Marg Woolley as written on the form. In closing, I want to thank our southern cousins at PNWR and ORPCA for hosting myself and some of the crew at the Porscheplatz Corral and hospitality tent. It was a marvelous event and you were all so friendly and accommodating. Let us return the hospitality. Have a great summer and we’ll see you at Whistler.
