Some of you asked about the S1 pictured here. It's been on the back burner for a while, but I started working on getting it running this week.
I picked it up last year from a guy who had installed a 16V engine from an '86, but was in way over his head electrically. I spent about a month rewiring the front of the car and sourcing correct boxes and sensors before I put it on the back burner to finish the RS. It hasn't been in service for over 10 years. I had to replace the gas tank, but it will now start and idle (roughly). I know the CIS-E system, but it's been a while. I did a differential pressure test on the distributor and got a control pressure that was HIGHER than system pressure. Logically, this shouldn't be possible. Any CIS-E gurus here? Attached image(s) |

Things are going pretty well today. The thing about this S1 is that it's been converted to a 16V S2 engine.
The PO was in way over his head and I'm trying to sort out his mess without being able to see either the car or the engine in their original configurations. Today, I would REALLY love to see some detailed pictures of a 16V cooling system in its normal home. |
