All aluminum, good power and reliable....pretty cheap as well since about the only market for them is for replacements or sandrails.
A few sites with some good reading about them: C and G Performance and Funco sandrails I know Kennedy Engineering makes an adapter plate and flywheel for it as well and unlike most Honda 4 bangers, they turn the correct direction (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) (IMG:http://www.cgperformance.com/images/CG%20honda%20engine%20WP.jpg) |

Toyota's are an interesting thought...........That 22R has got to be one of the most reliable motors ever built. Lots of them around, parts costs are very reasonable in comparison to say Honda, and a carb'd version is available. I do wonder if the majority of (any brand) inline OHC 4 cylinder motors aren't too tall to fit a 914? I have an '05 Tacoma w/ 4.0L V6. That motor *looks* huge. Doubt it would fit a 914, but??? BTW, what are the costs of those electronics you guys have been talikng about for the Honda motors? What exactly is involved with the wiring harness? Does it need to be modified? Are there people that do harness mod's? Do the ECM's need VATS/VSS/or any other stuff programmed out of them? Reason I ask, is that the LS1 Chevy harness mod's and re-programming the PCM to remove VATS, VSS, and down the pipe O2's is about $750. Andys |
