Looking over the pictures of the Dunkel event, I notice that there are pretty much 2 ways that folks seem to go with mirrors. They either stay stock or go with something that looks like the cheap Italian mirrors that you can get at any FLAP. In my opinion the later make a really fine car look really bad.
On my car I tried putting 911 mirrors on (the rectangular ones). These met my goals of a larger mirror surface and a mirror with "break away" functionality so that I wouldn't have to readjust them every time someone bumped them. The problem with these is the holes that you have to cut into the doors and the difficulty of getting this right. Fortunately, I was working with old doors that I planned to replace 'cuz I didn't get it right. So does anyone know of an aftermarket mirror that meets these goals and is easy to mount? How about a foolproof way to mount either the rectangular or oval style mirrors from the 911 or newer Porsches? There is one that I saw in the Dunkel pictures that looks like it could fit the bill, but I don't know what it is. Anybody know? http://www.pelicanparts.com/swapmeet_pics/...ML/Page-691.htm |

Andy,
I put those on the race car when I first got it. Don't waste your time. You can't see shit out of them. I ended up throwing them in the trash! I've got a pair of original mirrors that I'll use on the '72 and I'm looking for another pair for the race car. That plastic crap is crap! CHA914, there are quite a few racecars with them on it, I think the A-Pillar is where you want to attach them, not the glass. Here is a good pic of really nice 914 with the top ones in your pic.
