Hi All,

I've been lurking around for a while now and felt it's time to get off my A$$ and put a teener back into my life. I went and rolled my last project car out of my ma's garage, a 1974 2.0 914. It has some rust issues in the rear trunk and the PO had some crappy repairs done to it, but I'm not complaining. This car has been sitting for over 10 years in my ma's garage. This would be my second rotary 914. The first rotary 914 I ever had was over 10 years ago, and it survived stop and go traffic and a vacation to SF california, I live in LA. It was my daily driver to my first "real" job for 3 years. But 3 years of daily driving really took it's toll on my poor 914 and lack of parking forced me to send it to the autobahn in the sky. I kept all the parts and I'm starting the project again.

If you want an engine you have to get one from a car at the wrecker. Mostly what you are buying the engine for is the irons and e-shaft (crank shaft). You can use 13B/13B-REW housings, rotors, bearings, etc on your rebuild. I scored a spare e-shaft on e-bay for $500 US just in case the one in my core engine needs to be replaced. As for the 4 rotor there indeed was one made by the factory. It came in the famous Lemans winning race car called the Mazda 787B. It still is the only japanese car to ever win at Lemans. Shortly after it won they restricted or banned the rotary from competition and will likely be the only time a rotary wins at Lemans. There are a couple of companies that make 4 rotor e-shafts but they are not cheap. A friend of mine is going to work at the #2 rotary engine builder in Japan and he had the opportunity to buy a 4 rotor e-shaft.....for only $9000 US. What a bargain! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) He figured that it would cost him around $30,000 Canadian to build a 4 rotor perpherial port engine and that is with him doing all the labor for free. Custom e-shafts can be bought from both Japan and in New Zealand/Australia. There is a company called "Scoot" in Japan that has a 4 rotor RX7. Do a search on the web for them and you should find several videos of the car. I have them saved to disc but would need someone to host them if you can't find them elsewhere. banksyinoz: Good to see you again. I thought you mentioned that the 20B PP was running 51 mm throttle bodies and I asked why they went smaller than the 55 mm that I had purchased for my car. In this thread you mention they are using 55 mm throttle bodies. Which one is it. Not trying to start anything. I just want to know what they were using and if it was the 51 mm units did they have a good reason for not going bigger. It could be important to know on my build up if I am going with the wrong throttle body. P.S. Nice first gen. That looks like a stock factory turbo. To my knowledge we couldn't get those here. Too bad because I bet it really goes.

soloracer has all the good information about the 4-rotor e-shaft. I can’t add much to his already complete list. I do however have one tidbit of information that you may find interesting. Locally to me here in Canada we have a shop full of creative mad men like my self that have come up with a way to connect 2 two rotor motors together. On the dyno normally aspirated it pushed out over 1000hp. You’re next question will probably be how long is the assembly. Believe it or not it’s about the same length as the factory 4 rotor. The power plant is slated to be installed in a 3rd jen Rx for testing this summer. I am sure that I will be shot soon after posting this as it’s suppose to be top secret.
