CHANGE OF PLANS
OK, weather too much. 90% chance of rain Friday with lows in the 20's Saturday night for Frazier Park. ICE!!!! We'll do it again in the Spring. Plan B: 9:14am Meet at Gelson's Market in Calabasas. This is the normal start place for Pelican runs, so if you've been there... Leave there 10am. Mulholland past Rock Store to Rte 23 (AKA Westlake Blvd and Decker Canyon) Left to PCH. PCH Right to Neptune's Net restaurant. They don't open that early, but p'lot is good place to regroup. Leave there, head back to Mulholland Hwy (Just past the LA county line sign) Left on Mulholland Left on 23. Stay on 23 north where it separates from Mulholland and head down the hill. Left on Hampshire Rd, follow it under Fwy. Middle lane, cross Thousand Oaks Blvd into Tommy's parking lot. Please print and bring witcha. So I guess I should share a story from today...
As we were starting out, the whole group of us passed by Mr. CHP writing a ticket to a motorcycle rider. We weren't screaming, but we might have been exceeding the limit (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ph34r.gif) Anyway, he finished writing the ticket pretty quickly and was behind us. I think everyone pretty much prdicted this would happen, so we slowed down to avoid getting any souvenirs. He proceeded to advance up the group, tailing each of us for a few seconds and finally passed Howard in the lead car and set up on the road ahead a ways, facing traffic, radar on. As we stopped at the view point, a motorcyclist coming from the other way informed us of the trap. We managed to slow down a couple guys before getting caught as they went by. The second group of riders seemed to think our "slow down" hand movement meant "rev it buddy!" so who knows what happened to them... Sure enough as we passed the cop doing 25, he just had to sit there and watch. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Unfortunately, Slits wasn't there to entertain the local law enforcement. We did talk about him though, so the legend of Slits at WCC05 hasn't died. Apaprently we have all learned from his misfortune.. -Tony |
