I knew a member on the crash investigation team...final finding was the elevator flight tab control rod attach bolt was not keyed after maintenace, and came out, leaving the jet with only one elevator after takeoff. To make it simple, it had only one working elevator. not enough to keep the nose up on the heavy DC-8. It crashed in one of the salvage yards there, off the end of the runway. The load had not shifted before the crash. |
