subie guys need your help again. after finding out that a 911 engine rebuild cost over 8k the subie or v8 path is looking good again. if i ran the 2002-2004 wrx 2.0 turbo motor what do i do about the engine control unit or engine management. can the engine be run with the stock subaru ecu or does it have to be switched out to a standalone unit. if the stock ecu can be used, how hard is it to wire into the 914. thanks.

on my turbo Volvo, if I took off slow enough and slowly gained speed to a cruising speed of 70mph, the motor would not produce even half of it's max allowable boost...now if hammered the gas, it would.....normal non-variable vane turbochargers will not produce max boost until you are at or very near WOT 4000 rpms would be close to running 70mph or more I think... driving wise, what you as a driver would need to do is just modulate the throttle easier with the boost turned up higher.... I'll see if I can find some fuel injection MAPs with throttle positions so you can see the relationship between throttle position/manifold pressure(or vac. during normal cruise) and RPM, then it'll click... whether you are doing a suby or a type IV turbo, I recommend Corky Bells Turbocharger book, amazon.com has it as well as a supercharger book from him (i have both, my Turbobook is autographed by him (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) ) |
