I am putting a 2.0L exhaust on my 1.7L 914 and i was wondering do i buy the 2.0L cylinder head gasket or the 1.7L cylinder head gasket.

Actually, the ID of the 1.7 gaskets is smaller than that of the 2 litre ones. That makes the sealing surface slightly wider, but the 2.0 pipes have thinner walls, so some of the gasket overhangs the pipe. Since the head covers this part of the gasket, it won't make any difference which one you use. That said, I'd use the 1.7 gasket. The Cap'n
