little anecdote about journal size:
dont the honda guys run like 1.6" or around there rod journals? and they spin em to 8k no prob.... |

Yes and they also have 5 main bearings not 3, not counting the small pulley bearing. apples to oranges Do you really think VW made forged cranks out of the goodness of their heart? They did it because it was the only way to make a crank strong enough. The crank is the most expensive "single" part on the car. Hey I wish Richard the best of luck, what he is trying is cool, but longevity (flex) will be the issue. |
