Two things:
1. Carl, you even admitted that things didn't look great for you, that you might come off as a suspect. So you must expect that others might perceive that as well. 2. Eric said in his post that he was playing devil's advocate. It read pretty diplomatic to me. He even specifically wrote that he hoped you would respond and disspell any of his suspicions.
