Anyone have any good pics or info on how the 914 GT headlight mechanism (with the cable release) worked? I'd like to come up with something similar for my car if it's not too difficult. I have an idea of how I could fabricate the lift mechanism - I just wonder how they fastened back down when closed.
Thanks in advance for any help! |

More leverage is the way I would start. A small gain might be made by better positionning of the fixed end so the shock is "squarer" (is that a word ?) to the lever on the light. The length of that lever is pretty much set, unless the hardware that carries the light is changed.
The other thing is reducing friction. The weather was pretty cold here when I had the car out, it may be that I should use lighter grease in the pivots. 30 lbs springs would probably work, but I'm not sure yet they're necessary. Once the lights are up with my setup, they're fine, I get no bounce. Michel |
