I got this 76 from Rob Watson. It will be my driveable resto for a while to come. I drove it at 80mph (70 actual with my smaller tires) for about 2 hours to get it home with the wife following me. There were a couple small sputters on the way home, but the engine just purrrrrred along at about 3300rpm. ( I even got my first smile and head nod from a biker passing me on the highway) When we got it home there was a light speckeling (sp?) of oil over the front of my wife's car car, and so far I have only found a little rust damage behind the seats in the corners. Here are the pics of my new baby.

Your leak is probably the oil pressure "idiot light" sender, just aft of the distributor. When it leaks, oil tends to drip down onto the oil cooler and make a big mess in that direction.

The "wire" you are talking about is just a pull-cable; it is what operates the heater "flapper valve". Pull on the red "DEFROST" lever between the seats and the cable should be pulled inward; that is what opens up the flapper valves. There should be two cables, one going toward each side of the car.
