(I've copied this from another Board, no, NOT another 914 board!) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

In a nutshell:

A magazine conducted a very interesting test. They compared the maximum loads -in lbs- that 18 different brand name synthetic and semi-synthetic oils could withstand before braking down. The data of the test demonstrates long term wear in a very short period of time.

The results? Royal Purple, Penrite and Valvoline did the best.

Mobile 1 and Redline were among the worst. I wish they would've tested Amsoil.

I have been using Royal Purple for almost 6 years now....

We have tested most oils our selves and found only one that beat RP in wear metal after pre and post analysis as well as over the road field testing in aircooled engines specifically.

LN Engineering and my R&D division have been working together attaining this data since 2004, read more at www.lnengineering.com/oil

Last year I did a 3,450 mile trip with full data acquisition where I tested 5 different oils..... Our aircooled engines are vastly different from their watercooled counterparts.

FYI_ I have went as much as 23,000 miles on an oil change in my 912E with Royal Purple oil.
