I am currently rebuilding my rear arms with a 5 bolt system(hubs/cv/axle). This system must be able to handle the power of a 3.2 in "full abuse" mode...

Erics 4 bolt conversion looks fantastic, but I don't know if the 914 CVs will stand up to the power/abuse...911 SC stuff is available, but requires a custom axle...and therefore costs big bucks.

I remember some members discussing a 944 solution...I know it was strong...and heavy but I don't remember much else....

Does anyone have experience with these 944 hubs/axles/CV joints in a 914 conversion system?

If so:
What parts are necessary for the conversion?
What parts require modification?
Do you have any specs for the modifications?
Is there any drawbacks to this system other than weight?
Would you reccomend this system?
Do you have an alternative system that will handle a 3.2 in "full abuse" mode over a long term.

All input welcome,

Thanks,
Sean

Ok...I think I have my answers...thanks Dave for the archive...

I already have an aluminum 915 so I need...

87-89 944/951 axle assembly (Axle & CVs) Automotion pn 909264
75-84 911 stub axle
74-89 911 hub (to get hubcentric mount)
6mm spacer (already sourced)

This should be a no machining solution that only uses one spacer in order to get the later hubcentric wheel mounting.

Can anyone in the know confirm this set up or pont out where I went wrong?
