never did find a tranny or a transmission nearby for cheap--lemme know if you have a transmission.
Theres other places I need to visit before a transmission, which is why i havent went for the $450 rebuilt transmission. |

I just saw this thread...which is too bad as there was a guy at the Chattanooga VW show last week that had a trailer full of bus trannies. I'd bet he'll be at the Sevierville TN show coming up as well. I drove many (15+) VW busses in my youth with a '59 single cab later in life. One of the nicer ones was a '70 bay I bought from a VW mechanic. He'd replaced everything mechanical on it, including a 1600 DP with all new factory parts, balanced and blueprinted. It would cruise 70 no problem all day long. I traded it and a '62 sunroof bug for my first 914...which I blew up the engine in after only 3 months. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) |
