Funny this came up. A couple of days ago I was riding my mountain bike back home from a trail and I got clipped by a soccer-mom in an Excursion. Knocked me over and scared the sh*t out of me (must have just hit the bike itself), but I'm otherwise unharmed.
I still think that putting regular people behind the wheel of trucks that size (without some kind of training) is a mistake... Sure they are safer, but some of the rest of us in tiny little cars with ca. 1970's safety equipment are at a pretty huge disadvantage, no matter where the bumper sits. The worst part is that I was wearing Lobster gloves that are basically mittens with only two holes for fingers, so I didn't even get to give her a proper (IMG:style_emoticons/default/finger.gif) -Brit |
