Who is the best at rebuilding a MFI pump for a race engine?
Is there any chance that a stock pump will work with a hot 2.5 L six engine? Bill |

Gus at Pacific Fuel Injection is one of the more famous ones it seems like. I talked to him a couple times and he seemed nice. I never got my pump rebuilt though, because I sold the car first.
People say the pump is matched to the engine profile including cam, displacement, CR, flow characteristics, etc. I think MFI is one of the least forgiving of changes to the engine. With that said though I am not sure how much knowledge is actually out there of what can be made to work. I think most people just give up and send the pump out to be rebuilt to a certain spec ($$$$$) or convert to carbs. Check out: http://www.bayarea02.com/features/pfister-interview/ |
