After working on the 914 for years and wondering how much abuse the rear trunklid can handle, I thought about a: fender-protector-toolkit that would lay across the rear hood while working on the engine.
I imagine a toolkit that looks like a briefcase when folded up. When you set it down on the rear decklid, it would open into: One center section with magnetic base-tray that holds nuts, bolt, etc. The two flip-down sides would hold all of the tools that we would ever need working on these engines (short list;-). As you open the toolkit, the two sides would flip down, and then two "flaps" would flip out as fender protectors. All of it would have strategically placed magnets to hold it in place. So who has the sewing machine & the spare time to make a prototype with input from the rest of us? I have a sketch that I could scan as a starter. Stu |
