A couple of weeks ago ,on a cold morning and driving a rally, I pulled the console heater lever to get some heat in the cockpit( never used it before). Nada! So I tried to figure out where the problem came from. Started with the blower motor : it didn't run. So I took it apart, cleaned it out, greased it and it runs freely now when I put 12V on it. But it didn't work in the car. So I checked the engine bay relay box. The heater blower relay was missing, so I ordered a new one. Still nothing. I took out the heater lever and checked the green-white wire. It looked OK to me , but as soon as I make contact with the ground , it starts smoking at the end. So there must be a short circuit somewhere.
I don't intend to take out the whole wiring harness so what can I do to fix it or where do I start looking?
