My first Porsche and my first post. It's only been a few days since I bought it. Let the fun begin! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
The transmission won't shift into first at all, shifts fine into second, third's a bit tricky, into fourth good, and into fifth - but doesn't feel like it's all the way into gear, but it doesn't pop out. The previous owner replaced the existing gear box because first was non-operational with a unit known to be good. The problem is still there. I believe the transmission was in a higher power 6, so maybe first was locked out? - don't know. I got the car on jackstands tonight and checked the linkage, other than the usual worn busings (not terrible just a bit worn), I see that the main linkage going from the fire wall to the transmission has been repaired at the transmission end and seems to be bent more than the book shows, but not having seen the linkage before I really don't know. Anyone have suggestions as to what might be causing the problem? I'm looking forward to really making this car sing and meeting some of my fellow 914 fanatics! Thanks in advance Ya'll! |
