Hey everyone-
This summer I'm working on getting my Dad's 1975 914 1.8 back up and running. But to get it anywhere it needs new tires. The originals (Michelin 165 SR 15 ZX) are still on them and completely shot. I've been reading up on what modern sizes people have put on their 914's and using this websites tire calculator to compare; and I've found that a lot of people go with something along the lines of 195/65/15 or 205/60/15. Isn't this a little big for the 914? I'm mainly worried about the width. The originals are about 1.5" to 2" thinner on the tread than a 195/60/15. Does anyone have any advice whether it's preference or they think its necessary to go with a 195/65/15 or 205/60/15? And if that's the case, will it damage the car or the drive line over time at all? Let me know what you think. Thanks for the help in advance. -Derek |
