I don't own this car, but recently test drove a '73 2.0 with stock FI that is for sale. It had a very high idle, 1,500 rpm (assuming the tach is correct, it sure sounded high) and when accelerating above 3,000 rpm the engine "stuttered": lots of little hesitations, it wasn't smooth. You could feel the hesitations through the gas pedal, not sure if a passenger would feel them or not.
The seller said he recently had the car serviced by a qualified mechanic. Draw your own conclusions. I am interested in recommendations from 914 owners in the Orange County, California, area for expert 914 mechanics who understand the factory FI system and could potentially make this car run properly.
