Same Dealer has a 76 911 listed with a twin plug motor for around 40,000.

http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/ctd/2474395586.html

Last week he listed a 73 911 that was originally a Sporto that has been converted to a 5 speed and it has a Motor Meister rebuilt engine in it. Wanted big bucks for that one also.

Holly baajolly! Look at the rust under the dash. There is a pic of the pedals and the unrestored rust. I would think a pull back of the carpet is in order.
Its shinny but Id be rust huntting before i spent a dime.

Isnt that a 924 tac face? (could be wrong)

QUOTE(dug @ Jul 3 2011, 03:32 PM) *

Mostly those Konig seats are uncomfy, the bolster come up too high behind my shoulders. And the passenger insert in black is not working for me either.

If it was just a simple bolt in drivers seat though, that wouldn't bother a me as potential buyer that wants an original car.

But this has way too many performance goodies to be called original, but not enough for someone that really wants performance...
Twin plug
PMO manifolds
Aluminum valve covers
Modified tach
Side shift trans
Koni yellows in back
Bilsteins in front
Konig seat

But then it has stock brakes and 6x15 wheels (or 5.5x14 can't make out the tires in the photos).

They describe the engine in the auction as a 2.0L T spec. So why the twin plugs then?

Dealers that don't know about the cars they are selling suck.

I say it's a 25-30K rust free driver with nice paint and a bonus twin plug motor, so maybe +5K. 70K, no way. For 70K it has to be a visually perfectly stock original, or have more of the top of the line go fast/stop fast goodies installed, and a nicer seat:)

The vin listed might be a dealers stock number. or..... it could be a state issued vin for a stolen and recovered vehicle. And that is not a good thing.

After reading the write-up on the Ice Green 76 911 for $39,000 ( $19k for engine rebuild, $4k for carbs) and the 911SC Targa for $23k, I'm sure this guy hits the Crack Pipe on a regular occasion.

QUOTE(Cairo94507 @ Jul 3 2011, 10:55 AM) *

914-6's model years are 70-72. Yes it is a dealer and this car appears to be very clean and completely restored. I could not find the VIN listed in the add. They list their BS internal number for the VIN.

I am fielding quite a lot of questions regarding this car so I have answered them all in this note even though you may not have specifically asked! First, I am a dealer but a very non-traditional one. I have a club, www.silverstoneclub.com and I sell and buy cars for members and friends/associates or others that I come to know through our business. I started Silverstone Motorcars in response to client requests to do just this. The reason for actually getting a dealership was for financing and warranties where they might apply. Net of all this is that every car on my site belongs to its owner not to me.

Regarding the 914/6, the VIN is 9140431201. This is a numbers matching car that has a 2.2L “S” engine in it. The engine case is the original and the cylinders were changed/upgraded. It has a twin ignition 12 plug system installed; Bosch/SuperTech. Due to a technical issue, I have photographs that I cannot share with you today but will if you like as soon as I can get them downloaded. Photos include the VIN plate, the engine bay with the factory stickers affixed as well as the original driver’s seat and console all of which we have. The question regarding the carpets is that they are covered with a plastic, the same dealers use on new cars, to protect them from ANY wear or dirt or stains whatsoever. The door panels are original. The wheels are all numbered also which we can show you once I resolve this download issue.

Rather than guess the answers to questions you might have, please feel free to email me direct at paul@silverstonemotorcars.com or call me at 866.426.4480. As I said in the AD, this is a number 1 perfect car all original (with engine upgrades). The seat installed is the owner’s preference only.

Thanks Paul

FYI all y'all - the correct CL/914Club Listings & the dealer's site's page on this car are below:

http://www.914club.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=275487

http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/ctd/2474386612.html

http://www.silverstonemotorcars.com/vehicl...achusetts-01845

Having a 914 with the Beige interior, I can't stand the black changes, but I guess that was easier/cheaper than finding NLA Beige materials, or the seller/PO just liked that look! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

It will be "veeeery interesting" to see what he gets for it & how long it takes - especially in this economy.

"Back in '04, this car was shown at the local PCA region concours. I was one of the judges at that time. Our rules are for cleanliness and presentation, not stock originality. Anyway, the car was not properly prepared by the rules, although a one day cleaning effort would have trophied the owner. I attempted to talk with him but he was too pissed that he took last place out of 3 in the class. Never came back. He still runs a Porsche repair business on Boston's north shore.

Don"

I was surprized to see this car offered for sale. I saw the car during the restoration process and spoke to Jim Mallette, the owner/mechanic of Stuttgart Northeast (independent Porsche shop). He acquired this car from its original owner whom I recall as being from Marblehead, Mass. He rebuilt the engine to his own desire.

Paul,
Welcome and thank you for posting the reply along with the VIN and other information. I hope the car does sell and remains in the U.S. It certainly appears to be very clean and the few changes do not appear major. Best wishes and thanks again.

Commenting on price alone, those who think this is a 20-30K car haven't been shopping for 914-6's lately, at least from what I've seen. While 70K is a stretch, I would think this is more in the 35-45K range.

I think that all of the PCA Regions are similar at their CdE's - cleaning & maintenance are judged - not originality. At Parade the originality would come into play, but he still would've lost due to lack of proper prep.

In either case - no need to get pissed, take your marbles & go home mad! He should've taken the judging sheet home, cleaned up the gigs, then come out to the next one to win.

Odd that folks don't get so hyped up about cleaning their house, then go have it judged, & get P.O.'ed when someone finds dirt in the corners! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

However, at this price one would expect either a top racer fit-out or a perfectly restored & 100% rust-free perfectly original car IMHO!

I too have noticed an uptick in /6 prices over the last couple of years. I've been watching Ebay, Pano and the likes.

seeing a higher and higher asking prices for /6's gives me a better feeling after all the $$$$ I've spent over the last decade.

My main observation has been in the modified /6's. I've seen prices going from 35-50k in some instances.

I'll keep mine another 15 or so years, and then we'll see where the market is. It wouldn't surprise me the least to see a 6'r hit a 100k selling price.

This one on the link is way way off being a concours restoration. The changes from original are numerous just looking at the photos, but it still is a nice restoration.

I'd be curious just to see what the seller finally does take on the sale.

Just my 2 cents worth,

Ron

We are resporing & prepping a matching number "Six" for Parade, bare metal, stock bits, ect. If it is finished in time for Parade, it will be by the skin of out teeth. I want it to be so I can have some of you guys look for flaws & mistakes so they can be corrected and I really want to see him get the money, as like others here, we are deep $$$$$ into this car..

Here is the engine, wasn't cheap to get it here..

I understand the situation better now - Paul is a Broker, his customer wants x amount of $$ and Paul is entitled to make money as that is his business.

Do I think the car is worth $70k - not really. But I know that many who have these cars and restore them, that we take a little Artist's interpretation and make them what we think they should be. Porsche only gave a half-ass effort, so I think that in many cases we have improved on the breed.

I know my car will be getting a $50k motor - crazy, yes, but I also have the original. Is my car worth more than $70k? I can only hope

Paul, good luck on the sale.Have not been involved long with this forum but amazed at the bashing that occurs.
Now the apologetic highjack-I purchased swaybar from Bruce-waiting on arrival-
was looking for any info on this bar. After your posts, went looking for H&H info.Every post or picture had bushings instead of bearings and did not see any with splined ends.????? JJackson
