Doing some wiring layout work on my 3.2 conversion. Where should the O2 sensor be installed in the exhaust? I have 1 5/8" headers. Can I install where the 3-lengths on the passenger side merge before going into the muffler?

Where they merge is the best place for overall mixture as it gives you an indication of the mixture of three, not just one cylinder.
I hope that helps. BTW, if you look at the TOMERIC build thread, he has installed one at the collector point of the right MSDS header. |

Picture shows what I was thinking. Thanks.
Cupomeat - I sent a PM to Tomeric. Trying to coax him to my garage for some help. I'm in Syracuse too |

but why?
you don't need an 02 sensor - just disable the thing via the DME switches - or get a chip from any of the several chip sellers that bypass the 02 requirement just read this: 02 sensor function it takes a leap of faith to believe that TWO sensors can be ganged together to talk to the single DME input - or yu could put in a switch and only read half the engine at a time - dunno what you can gain by that? p.s. - my 02 bungs are just like in the above triad pic - but i put em there only so i could use em to wide-band tune webers on the 2.7 that is now history - now i will use them to fine tune the Motronic after i re-chip it I already have purchased Wilke's 911 race chip 911 DME chips |

I put mine in the same spot on my 3.0L with 1 5/8"! It seems to work well and I pass smog in Cali! Not that I need too and not that..that, is a good thing but it is running great!

Ok here's my two cents... The 02 sensor in question ... How many wires does it have? Buck says its narrow band and is only used by the ecu for closed loop fuel trimming during slight open throttle cruising. So in my opinion pick a cylinder and stick it. Of if it can be disabled it wouldn't be a horrible thing.

Its a 3-wire sensor. If I can disable it in the DME that would be my first choice. I'm not worried about passing emissions.

They really don't do much for emissions more for getting decent mileage on cruising. It's a narrowband so I would figure out getting rid of it.

Much of the talk on Pelican suggests keeping it. Better gas mileage is a plus these days.

Placement advice of 02 sensors is important look up the install notes for a innovate wideband controller. They suggest a bunch of stuff in order to keep the sensor in good working order

I ended up picking up & installing a new sensor. From what I've read it helps with fuel management & idle. If I chip the ecu I will remove plug I'm sure I'll chip it sooner than later.
