Are there any pads that go under where the gas tank sits to keep it from rubbing?
If so, any pictures of where they are placed? |

Any type of foam pad should be avoided. They will retain moisture and rust out the tank from the outside to the inside. I am using a sheet of epdm rubber I got from Grainger Supply and cut to fit the shape I wanted. It has adhesive on one side and was glued to the body, not the tank. People also use pieces of the green scotchbrite scouring pads, but they too will retain moisture.

I wonder if there would be local places that carry that EPDM material. I think roofers may use it, but would assume that is thinner?
How thick exactly does it need to be?? |

Which size/thickness EPDM in particular do they use for the gas tank padding?
I was thinking of about 3/16" https://www.mcmaster.com/8610K94/ https://www.mcmaster.com/epdm-rubber/ |
