Are there any pads that go under where the gas tank sits to keep it from rubbing?

If so, any pictures of where they are placed?

Is Scotch Brite the same as those pads you use to clean the dishes?

What about foamies? https://www.ebay.com/itm/273899372713?chn=p...d2d7278b8c4f66c

Two places on the front, and one on the back, driver's side?

I bought the pads Lowes.

I wonder if it would be better to glue them to the gas tank instead of the chassis, so there would be a seal/barrier, between the tank and the pad?

Any type of foam pad should be avoided. They will retain moisture and rust out the tank from the outside to the inside. I am using a sheet of epdm rubber I got from Grainger Supply and cut to fit the shape I wanted. It has adhesive on one side and was glued to the body, not the tank. People also use pieces of the green scotchbrite scouring pads, but they too will retain moisture.

I wonder if there would be local places that carry that EPDM material. I think roofers may use it, but would assume that is thinner?

How thick exactly does it need to be??

Which size/thickness EPDM in particular do they use for the gas tank padding?
I was thinking of about 3/16"

I did the same, with non-adhesive neoprene rubber sheet material.
