I did a search for this scenario and didn't find anything.

So, I'm driving home from work. Sitting at an intersection, the car goes dead, absolutely no electrical power. Would not start, no radio, nothing. I pulled the emergency flasher to warn traffic I was down, nothing, great. I start to get out of the car, the flasher starts. I jump back in the car starts right up. I drove for a few more miles and it happened again, while moving. I coast to a side street out of the way, car starts right back up.

It's a 76, any ideas??

I put the old battery back in and the car springs back to life. I've been driving on it for several days with no problems. I'm working on sending the Optima back. Not sure if I should chance another or try a different brand?
