I was diging through my parts and came across this seat belt buckle holder:

so I decided to install it today I pulled back my carpet and found the factory holes"

Here is the belt in the holder:

I have two of these, does one go on the passanger side also? I am a bit lazy to go and pull up the carpet to find out. The car is a '70 and has early interior.

Never seen those before. My /6 didn't have them by the time I got it. That I remember anyway. I took the interior out at least 4 years ago.

My 70/4 has only the one for the driver's belt. There are no holes drilled in the interior longitudinal on the passenger's side. Sadly, my buckle holder has cracked by all 4 mounting holes 'cause I was sloppy getting into and out of the car all these years. If anyone has an uncracked holder they would like to part with, I like to hear from them.

So is it riveted to the carpet then, or into the long?

my car has 4 factory holes in the long on the driver side. I have not checked the passanger side yet.

I attached it using screws, but I probably used different screws than the factory.

No part number on it.

PET figure 812-00 #14 lists a "holder" 914.803.141.10 not shown in the figure and 4 screws. Maybe your part?

Nope, 914.803.141.10 is the retaining bar for the later model retractable seatbelts.

I wonder if this was a aftermarket part installed by the dealer?

The "factory" holes appear to have paint in them as if they were drilled before the tub was painted. I screwed it in place, but for all I know they may have been rivited.
I will check my passanger side this evening and if there are holes I'll post a picture.
Also for me to have the parts in my stash must mean that they came from another 14 that I had in the past. I think they may have been removed from my first 914 (which was wrecked in the early '90s).
I wonder if any other VW's used this part?

I just checked on my '70 /4 (No carpet, so that was easy) and neither side has any holes in the long where such a thing could be mounted.

I suspect they were dealer installed. Where's Bowlsby when you need him?

I didn't find any such holes when I removed my carpet for repaint on my early '6.

I'll look at the /6 tub tonight. Since it's still bare with fresh paint on it it should be easy. Provided I can maneuver in my tiny garage...

Removing upholstery, seats and carpets reveal this on driver's side ('70/4). Screws are original to car and went through carpet and fastened into long.
