So we are now about 2 months out. I assume that all the regulars are planning to attend (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Hopefully some non-regulars and even some newbies (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) I also assume the plan is still to do the A.X. Bill initially mentioned (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Either way I'll be there in the fo-fo (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Oh and Ken asked about a cookout ? That is a MUST (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

First post announced a picnic Sat night with Corvette club or some such. Cost $15. Do we rub elbows with Vetter's? Did Porsche beat the Corvettes at Le Mans this year? Maybe we can convince them that they really are Porsches...

Yea and going back and rereading the info and I don't see the word FOOD connected to picnic. I see soft drinks, beer refreshments but not FOOD. We could cook at the campsite (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stirthepot.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif)

QUOTE(Bill Smith @ Dec 29 2009, 07:56 PM) *

The autocross is really set up for this type of thing. There is a fence between the runs and the spectators. So almost all of the course except for one tunr can be seen from this perspective. The club is very open to all cars from a beat up green MGB that runs to the entire Pittsburg Steel City Corvette club to the DC Cobra Club and several other clubs. The autocross overs Instructors to ride along for those newbees at no added cost. Anyone can come to the Saturday night picnic for the $10 or 15 ticket where they provide food, soda, beer, and alot of car talk.

DOH!

In an effort to make sure as many people know about this and are kept informed, I thought I'd make an email list and send out a note when some info is posted. No email addresses will be shared. If you check 914world often enough that you don't need or want a note, that's OK too. If this is something you'd like, PM me your email address and I'll save it in an Excel file to use as an email list. Tell your friends that you might think would be interested in attending the ECC 2010.

I stand a better chance of being able to make this event if there's other stuff to do in the area so we can make a weekend of it. So if we come on Saturday for 914-AX activities and general cook-outery, what's there to see and do in the area on Sunday?

There's no way Joy will be on board to stand around and watch an autocross for two days straight...

There's a cool train ride, but no guarantee that they will have the steamer pulling it.

OK - that has all the earmarks of an inside joke, 'cause I don't get it at all...

So - OK - tell me more about this train.

Here's the problem I see with an event being co-located with an organized AX - there's no way those guys are going to allow alcohol anywhere near the event, and I don't blame them a bit. But it does take a lot away from the traditional all-day cookout/benchracing/brewtasting character.

There is a rule due to insurance that there is no open beer, liquor, etc until the last car finishes. I will reserve the farest parking lot from where the cars run, so the 914s will be in their own group. You could probably get away with drinking a beer if you dont get brass with it. They dont have anyone that really polices it until someone complains.

The autocross is done about 4pm and after that, go hog wild. Also the picnic is about 10 miles from the Autocross site, so you do have to drive at some point.

There is food at the picnic as well as beer and a bunch of really nice corvettes and other cars.

Due to my personal situation, I'm only going to show up for a little while. That's why I was asking about when the actual picnic is, because I can't spend a whole day out at this time.

I know. BTDT.
at 4.5 hrs 1-way, it's too long for a daytrip.
it's not a cookout, it's an AX and an evening picnic.

pass.

y'all have fun tho.
