I can run open megaphones at Willow Springs and (I think) Buttonwillow. But if I venture out to tracks with noise-restrictions, obviously I will need to run a muffler setup.
Car will have Bursch headers, for now. What are my best options? I have seen some nice stainless "can" style mufflers from Coast Fabrication, which look very similar (maybe identical) to the ones sold by Jim Patrick. In terms of stock-ish style, I have heard good things about the Monty stainless 2-in/2-out sausage. There were some at the Dunkels meet this year and they sure looked purty, but spendy (>$600 IIRC). Supertrapps are also a pretty common setup. What are my best options that won't get me black-flagged at the track or arrested if I take the car out on the street, but hopefully also won't kill too much power or wallet-padding either? If I ever take the car up to Laguna, I'm assuming I'll have to meet 92dBA, which is a beotch even in a stock early 911/914-6. The carbs alone make a ton of racket and there's no sound-deadening in the car anymore; plus a GT-style engine lid. (I have a spare stock lid if that helps). |

Anybody know what these are? I thought this car had Supertrapps, but now that I looked again, I don't think they are.
This is the first 914-6 I ever rode in at the track. It's a POC car; Martin somebody. Same class as me, although he doesn't seem to show up for short-track events any more. The car is extremely nice. |
