The custom 2-in/2-out Flowmaster sounds worth checking out. The mufflers are only like $70 so it seems hard to go wrong there, as long as you find a shop that can bend & weld tube decently.
Here's the URL on those Coast Fab mufflers. They are spendy, IIRC. http://www.coastfab.com/ultralights.html I have pics of them on somebody's 911; I think Bill Verburg possibly (one of the Pelicanites). I'm on the road this week and don't know where that pic is stashed. |

Brad, I know you've got better things to do.. but if you or any of the CA guys know.... would the flowmaster or patrick system pass Laguna sound as is.. or would either have to have extra steps taken (weight)? is there more than one style of flowmaster? TIA brant |

I know that people on the pelcan 911 board are running Flowmasters, some with 3.6's and none have complained about it being to loud for the track. Might be worth asking a question there of who is tracking where with the flowmasters.....

Keep in mind there are numerous flavors of Flowmasters. I have (had) a 40-Series Delta Flow on my 4-banger. It was pretty fargin loud. The 50-series is quieter and mellower. Their line ranges from basically empty-can drag race mufflers to basically "stock" sounding street mufflers.
No way in hell the 40-series I had on my 2.4/four would pass sound reg's at Laguna etc. I suspect it was closer to 100dbA. |

I finally get it.. I'm only a little stupid.. I hadn't seen the 2nd half of the old thread with the picture...
guess I didn't know quite what everyone was referring too... so now I have a whole batch of new questions: Brad, did I understand your putting this onto the tube car. Soooo, it must be fairly free flowing then. Does a person just buy the basic 2in/2out and have to fab the unit then? Chris, regarding the different models of flowmaster... which ones would pass laguna and which models are other track guys using? thanks for putting up with all of the questions guys... brant |

The one I gave the part number for IS THE ONE you need. Its designed for a honkin V8 Trans Am or Z28.
Any muffler shop can install it for you (depending on what headers you are running) You may need to purchase the flanges for them to weld to some simple steel muffler tubing they will use. They are plenty quiet and have a awesome RASP to them. It makes the engine sound like its doing 10KRPM but your at 6K. B |
