Scotty,
I'm stoked at your tenacity. I know we don't get to see all the steps, so a question. In replacing the floor pan I noticed a bunch of rust in the cavities. You also mentioned using phosfo, is that rust mort? Also do you blast any of that rust of or just use the killer and weld through, before coating with paint? Just curious about the steps you take to put the rust on it's death bed? I know a bunch of guys don't like the Por products is this your opinion? Funny, I always thought the best thing to do was cut the cancer, blast the remaining rust, coat welded areas with weld through, make the welds and then final coat with Por-15 (somewhat a challenge to get it into all the cavities) then coat with body cavity wax. Your advise will be much appreciated, as I have to put a car on the spit in about 4 weeks.

What is left behind is nothing more than surface rust. I will wire brush it, give all of the cavities a coat of Ospho, then a coat of sealer, weld everything shut, and etch prime and seral the outsides. Keep watching the pics (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Evil contributions. there are now 4 of you guys that owe Mike a dinner for totalling his car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

Patches got blasted and coated with etch primer, then a coat of sealer, Cavity got the same after a liberal dose of Ospho, then sealed. Patch weldeded on and grindeded down, then another coat of etch primer on the outside to hold it until I am ready to paint it.

So I have about 1/2 a gallon of rust-mort left. Is it going to work for me like the ospho, or should I just ditch it in favor of the ospho? Looks like I paid double what I would have for the Ospho.

Boy a non rust total is worth a lot for the long repair parts. Scotty that repair alone is probably worth 400.00. 100.00 for a nice complete rust free jack post and outer long + 6 hours at 50 bucks not counting rust preventers and cutting disks and wire and heat.

He's a swell guy, that Scotty - and does superb work. It's nice when you find these eccentric rich guys who do it just for the love of it . . . .

I think all of the work he's done and is doing on the Doc's vehicles was some sort of barter deal; Scotty gets a lifetime of free exams (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon8.gif)

Well guess what ....it gets even worse (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) This is the second time I have repaired this spot on a car and I have to say it is one of the biggest PITA areas to fix due to that damned tube Porsche pout in there. What the F is the purpose in that damn thing anyway ?? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

That tube is there as kind of a pressure release valve so you can close the doors with the windows up and the roof on.

and to rust.

I read your account of being gassed! Sincerely hope all is well.

Floor is done (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) All welded, grounded, etcheded, sealeded and undercoatededed. Got to a point where I needed to stop until the new stuff arrives, and I also need to make some re-usable and adjustable bracing so I took friday and sanded the gas tank and front struts clean, primed and painted them low gloss black.

This hurt me to do (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) But I had to too see just how bad things are. I'm going to cut the bottom out of the suspension console next time to make certain it is good on the inside.
