Mark, the guys in the shop want to send you a real high flow msds filter, maybe one like this with the red end cap.
They told me that they will go on a hunger strike on Monday if you don't get rid of purple Haze.

I sure don't want your guys to miss a meal due to my issues. Save some room in the box when I order my set of ceramic coated MSDS headers (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I have an original 914-6 oil tank but the paint was a bit beat up. So after stripping the paint, there are spots of corrosion through the copper plating. So now do I;
Treat the corrosion and powdercoat
Treat the corrosion and epoxy paint
Remove copper and start from scratch - probably $$$

sandblast and epoxy paint. It will be rust free and have much better protection than original. Best bet is to send it to Pacific oil cooler. They'll sonic clean, pressure test, repair i f necessary and paint,roughly 300.00 depending on repairs

What was the purpose of the original copper plating? I am in the same boat with mine and trying to figure out what to do with it.

Not sure when they switched to the late dash with the bottom vents, but I thought it was '73. If so, doesn't that alone date it as an earlier shell, unless someone went to the trouble to convert the whole dash assembly to the early config.

MY 5/72 1.7 has the late dash with side vents, no vent on the top center of the dash.
