I'd like to follow up on this discussion about "radios". I don't have a hand held radio (Motorola, etc.) but could probably get my hands on one if need be. Are radios needed because cell phone coverage in the mountainous terrain is limited rendering them unusable at times (like in an emergency).

If a radio is the desired communication device, please let me know so I can work on obtaining one.

They are not a necessity. The lead and last cars will have them and several other people have them also. We use them to make sure everybody is still with the group, or in case of a breakdown or any other reasons that may need to stop the whole group. You are not required to have one. There will be places on the dragon where your cell phone will be useless but only in certain areas.

so what is the current 914 car count?

Not 100% George but I believe we are at 30 cars so far. I can get more cars, but holding out for the 914's before I invite the other air cooled folks.

Still at least Two MN 914's on the fence. I'm at about 80%. Kelly will be last minute.

Chappy needs a gear change in his transaxle. He has a short set for racing. Not highway friendly with the turbo. We were talking about it the engine wanting to go into boost at highway cruising speed. I'm still reassembling the Alien. I'm getting close. If the transaxle doesn't whine all the way to the RRC and home I will be much more likely to make the Tail.

Only 42 more days to the most excitng 914 gathering in the country! Lot of people coming but I still see a bunch of folks not registered that really should be. This is a great location for all of the east coast people whether you're from the north or the south. All of you centrally located folks should be coming down also. Don't miss your chance to meet the famous Buttercp! We need about 10 more teeners & George will load us up wth lots of goodies for door prizes & there are other member vendors hooking us up also! Don't wait too late, register now & get your room reserved & come on out & drive the dragon with us!

Remember that 40 registered cars and I drive the 916. Also I can get Steve Gaglione to bring his M-471 recently featured in Excellence Magazine! Also remember that I can provide the BEST door prizes, but we NEED 40 914s registered.
This could be the 914 photo shoot of a lifetime and certainly a u tube movie!!!
I will even answer anything you can throw at me at the tech session!

I am not registered yet so MAKE ME REGISTER. We need 40 914 CARS signed up

OK, we finally signed up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Check is in the mail to Clay.
After that...I have no idea what will happen to it.

So.... Huey will be in attendence... heading with him to Rennfest this weekend...guess I should start cleaning him up huh?

So what we need is a REAL count of EXACTLY how many cars there are.

I've registered twice and am not on the list so I guess I'm just a virtual car! On the up-side that means this Crimson Shaft is virtual as well. One more thing...

This also means my steering wheel won't be visible for you hooligans to pinch. Oh yes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

sure will and steve two. But that is the icing on the cake as far as the numbers go! 40 before the 916 and the m-471 is the goal, and I think that we can achieve that.

I think that they should post the numbers every day so we can keep the goal constantly at the forefront.

Anything else that anyone thinks that any of us should bring?

I will have to bring a chase vehicle for all of the door prizes.

Agreed, but the person that has all the registrations is a bit swamped at the moment with work.

Clay, if you can hear (read) me, there are a lot of people that have offered to help you out. Take advantage of some of them while your busy. There are also a lot of people looking for information that are getting quite frustrated. You guys put a lot of time and effort into this year, I would hate to see it suffer because you can't reply or give updates due to work obligations.

By my unofficial count, there are 32 or 33 914s and a couple 944s.

This does not count the Alien and anyone he could talk into driving down from up north.

What about the Atlanta area teeners? I only see a couple Georgia people signed up.

Maybe we should start another thread OR have a Poll thread to start getting a solid count. I believe everyone would like to know?

Maybe we can get a clean count in another thread....might be more confuson tho??
