I would have liked to be there since remains of my wrecked teener (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) are half of this abomination, but I am flying up to Bend Oregon in the morning and picking this up to console myself from the atrocities you are committing. Hey! That looks like mine 'cept mine has less miles and no tail... You will love it Patrick. Enjoy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

We are all set at this end. Mark (Gopack) will meet me at the Donut shop and we will take my car down. This will give me an hour and a few minutes to try and talk sense into his football team choice... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Interesting... Most of my shots didn't turn out. Here is one from the tail end of the beast...
Mike Bellis was very productive splicing the leading harness into the trailing harness. Not just crimped wire either, each wire was soldered to its mate in the rear harness. Mike knows his stuff. Plus his V8 914 sounds killer as hell! Dave Darling changed out the front struts as well as some other stuff. I removed calipers all the way around and removed the old front fiberglass spoiler and its associated oil cooler. as well as the oil cooler lines into the wheel well. Geoff Straw did some killer rust repair. I believe the brake line was extended from the front body to the rear by McMark. Chris Pincitich was there. He was doing something but I didn't keep track of him. Jeff Keyser was there as well and though I know both of these guys were pitching in I am sorry to say I didn't know what they were doing. Andy was into everything. Though rust repair seemed to be a focus. Amoy says me and Mark are no longer allowed to plan BBQ's since we didn't have any food or drink and had to send her and Gopack Mark to the store or we would all have gone hungry. Al and Sue Weidman came down too. I saw Al pitching in while Sue entertained their dog with a tennis ball for hours. Mike and his wife from Windsor came by in their slope nose 2.0 and say what you want about slope nose 914's, this was a well executed car in very nice condition. Hopefully they will bring it up to Tahoe in a couple weeks here. If I am forgetting anyone, my apologies. I think a lot of work got done which is what the goal was and it was great to see the gang! We got a ton of work done and everyone was extremely helpful. Thanks everyone for chipping in. We got 5-6 days worth of work done in a few hours.
From what I can remember we: 1. connected the two wiring harnesses (Thanks MikeB for the labor and RobW for the extra harness) 2. Swapped the early struts that were on the car for a set of late struts (Thanks DaveD for the labor and RobW for the struts) 3. Pulled off all four calipers for rebuilding (Thanks DaveD on the front and ChrisP and RobS at the back) 4. Removed the thread in studs in the rear (Thanks ChrisP) 5. Cut out the nasty old battery tray (Thanks ChrisP) 6. Removed the ugly front valence and damn leaky oil cooler (Thanks RobS) 7. Patched a bunch more holes in the floor (Thanks GeoffS and AndyS) 8. Installed the brake line extension (I did that!) 9. Swapped the funky steering column for an appropriate 914 column (Thanks DaveD and AndyS) 10. Prepared the throttle cable tube and clutch cable tube for their future extension (Thanks ChrisP) 11. Repaired the torn up center tunnel on the rear car (I did this too!) 12. Pulled the new extralong wiring harness back out so we can weld and paint (Thanks JeffK) 13. Removed the wiper arms (Thanks Mark) Thanks also to gopack (Mark) for taking a ton of pictures with DaveD's camera. Thanks to Amoy and JeffK for cooking. Thanks to Amoy and Mark for shopping for the food. I think that was everything I saw... WHEW! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) You guys are SOOOO awesome. |

For those of you who think McMark's life must suck having to work on ratty rusty 914's every day, here is a little of the scenery that Mark has to deal with on his way to work... By the way, if anyone needs an uncracked but scored windshield I will have one available soon... So no comments about the pic through the window (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I raced a Mitsubishi Evo on the way home... Smoked him... Only broke 100mph a couple of times. His 300hp turbo could not compete with my V8 torque!
