Thought you dudes might be interested in this. Gave it a run yesterday. With the conversion factor used in Porsche Cup it works out to 238hp at the flywheel.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) Nice looking curve Howard.
Can you elaborate a little on what you are running? I'm curious as I will be running a 2.7 rs clone very shortly! Glenn 73 914-6 |

Glenn,
2.7 twin plug, 10.5 JE pistons, S cams, Webers. The twin plug part was a lot of messing around but the result is worthwhile. It pulls so well from 2-3k to 7k. Its just extremely flexible and fun. |

I saw the AX video. I like the way yours goes. I take it Geoff doesn't like 2.7's for some reason. They just have to be put together correctly. |

Howard; we have very similar engines. I thought I'd post my dyno run from a while back for you to compare. They printed a test run and first pull on the same sheet. My engine is a 2.7 twin plug, S cams, 11.5:1 Mahle pistons, Electromotive crank fire ignition and Webers. Everyone I know says it's the sweetest sounding engine they've ever heard. I think you're going to be happy with yours.

Woo...some nice numbers there guys (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) . I can't wait to get this SDS stuff jammed in my engine bay to get some dyno numbers of my own. Anyone know a good conversion factor to get FWHP. I'd guess it's pretty low, like 15% or less. Has anyone done both engine and chassis dyno on the same engine? Jake? |

I dont think you have lived until you have driven a car (911 or 914) with a strong early 6 in it... Too me there is nothing like it. I drove around a 72 911 with a 2.4T in it for a year, it had MFI and when it ran right it was incredible. 2.7RS spec would be very similar especially if you made it a REAL RS spec and had MFI.

QUOTE I dont think you have lived until you have driven a car (911 or 914) with a strong early 6 in it... I kinda know what you mean, but I was spoiled with the larger sixes and just cant get used to those old peaky motors. They are fun to visit once in a while, but to me it would be annoying having to keep the revs up to have any passing power. Nothing beats cubic inches (or cc's in our case). |

Drew, thats a serious amount of grunt. I assume the run was in 4th. What size tyres do you have on it?? I friend has bretty much the same spec engine in his 911 but with more comp and MFI and he's fetting around the 190 mark.
Kevin, I'll take a photo as soon as I get some light. Its 5.00 am here. I woke up early!! |

Howard; everything is a little fuzzy right now, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) but my street tires are 245/50/15. The operator did the dyno pull, I assume he was in 4th. I have SupperTrapps and got different results with no disks. I want to go back and try it with about 5 disks which should move the torque lower in the rev band.

I didn't realise the photos were so shitty until I saw them on the board. I will get some better ones.
On the dyno it was doing 184 kph at 7300 in 4th which is about 114 mph. |
