Good memory Ken. The only one's on that list that haven't been here before are ArtechnikA, Slackin, Ghuff, and Brian ...

to call out another name or two there's EVAN and his red 'little bean' car. Haven't heard from him in a l-o-n-g time.

How about a distance challenge - GEEZER914 from south jersey (my home town). you can make the trip it's about 2:20 from Salem.

I'll send direction via IM to those who need them (ya gotta ask tho')

I won't need directions but I will need an address.
Can't look a month into the future to see my availability but it sounds a lot more attractive to me right now than this year's ECC event that's transmogrified into something different.

An EZ Up will fit into either the Subie or the Titanic, if need be...
I've got a bunch of suspension stuff I want to do to the Titanic before taking it on a long(-ish) trip if possible, and I'd planned that over Labor Day weekend, but that's an arbitrary goal...

Gotta go look at a map to make sure I remember where Frederick is and map a route. Donno if it'd be just me for a daytrip or if Joy can make it. Either way, either vehicle, there'd be room for a couple of pax if someone from SEPA wants to carpool...

seems to me to be very much the same; socialize with some fellow 914'ers and eat. What did you want, a tee shirt?

At the ECC, Saturday daytime consists of watching an AX, followed by an evening picnic that starts around 5.

If this event starts around 5, nevermind.

I'll be there. The rain won't keep the 914 in the garage, but the lack of cv flange adapters may.

You know that.
I know that.
Evidently there was some confusion with this event being 'just like' the ECC.
IMO, it ain't.

Right now, this event is a lot more like what sounds good to me, right now.
I'm glad there are choices and I hope the other event has a great turnout.
I have no illusions that success of the ECC hangs on my presence.

So I'm penciling this event on the calendar and will try to make it.

The reference or comparison to ECC may be my fault - I mentioned ECC in the initial post - call this a warm-up to ECC. However as stated above this is simply a social gathering. The whole family is welcome. Kids can swim while we socialize and (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) too!

and now that Dr Evil has stated his availability we can offer his unique style of swimming lesson's to your kids! Welby, bring Junior!

I made that comparison all by myself.
I can probably only attend one this year.

{edit - actually, this is only sort of true. Whether or not the BBQ happened I probably wasn't going to make the ECC this year...}

(Never did I say I wouldn't or didn't want to attend the ECC; it just doesn't fit for me this year. Things might change by then.)

This event is closer and more aligned with what I'm looking for in a social event at this time.

I'm sure this year's ECC will be a wonderful event. It looks to be well-organized and the preliminary attendees list are all friends. But nothing's going to work out for everyone; event organizers must accept this.

(I really wanted to go back to northern NV for the WCR this year, and that didn't work out either.)

My having to choose is simply a matter of my schedule and responsibilities and not intended to be a reflection on the event.

The whole family is welcome. Kids can swim while we socialize and I wax poetic to Scotty B about how I've owned my 911 since birth and what a great car it was and how I want it to be that great again, and then Rod will chime in about how many layers of carpet are laying on top of it, and Mike farts and runs us all out of the garage, and then later on Mike, and Scotty will get drunk as hell and start the Fat Albert junk yard band with kitty litter boxes, and a 1x2 with a shoe string running the length of it, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif) and (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) too!

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Let's get together 'pre ECC' fashion. It's time for another Barbeque and pool party. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drunk.gif)
August 21st - 2:00 pm to ?? Frederick, MD.
We have room for camping for those who travel a distance. Local hotels nearby too.

So come on all you 914-ers in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, even New Jersey and West Virginia (and further?)! Newbies welcome!

Ken - can you bring a special brew? I'll get ribs and barbeque.
Zach - don't forget my small cooler (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Kevin B - fix those CV's and tow that tear drop trailer!

Kids and SO welcome. Hope to see you !!

Count me in. If anyone driving a Teener from the Central PA area wants a co-pilot, I will be happy to help out. Mine is still a long way from being road worthy. Otherwise, taking th Mazda.
