Your right, you shouldn't have to.
But, If the car needs shocks, bushings, and various other items, the $$$$$ start to add up fast. That's why it's key to really find someone you can trust to go over the car so you know what your getting into if you elect to buy it. Labor around here is $80 an hour. I can't imagine it being any cheaper out in Cali.
