If you own a 914, sooner or later TC will buy it and turn it into a /6...

I'm trying to picture what this 914 will look like when it's all done. Should be pretty cool!
Can't wait to see the fender on the car. |

Is an access hole really needed? Just wondering...as I kind of like my backpad.

Needed? No, it just makes a few things easier.
Here's something else that is not *needed*, a marked pulley. The hole makes it easier to see....best pic I have of this. Attached thumbnail(s) |

It's not a requirement. But on a six if/when you throw a belt or have a plastic dry-cleaning bag rolled up under the belt, you'll spend a lot of time and bust knuckles without easy access.
I've seen plenty of -6 owners who put a belt on the old fashion way (not removing the engine to do it) getting the shims cockeyed, an not getting the belt on with the right tension... or even on tightly. In the latter case the new belt comes off while you're driving. Life's better with one. Then it's almost trivial to get a new belt on or work on anything else in that area. The finished cover: Under construction: yep |
