All...

I know we just got back from MUSR 11, but we need to start planning for next year.

I am looking for suggestions for an event location.

Requirements:

1. Lots of Twisties.
2. Within about a day's drive from Dallas.
3. Lots of Twisties.
4. Someplace we haven't been before.
5. Lots of Twisties.
6. Possibly a small 50 room hotel we could invade for a few days.
7. Lots of Twisties.
8. Someone local to plan tour routes.
9. Lots of Twisties.
10. A big parking lot for the car show and the blind AX.

So...Y'all break out the maps and start looking. The reason for the requirement of a day's drive from Dallas is this is supposed to be the MID US Ramble. I am all for going east a day to get everyone from that part of the country.

When we get some suggestions, I will post a poll.

Really don't know a lot about the area, but how about the Florida Panhandle? This time of year the weather is Great. Some beautiful beeches, some non-Florida-ish terrain, gotta be some twisties up there.

I haven't seen any. I am sure there are a lot of county roads I haven't driven, but from what I have seen there are no real twisties. Beautiful beaches for sure though and plenty of delicious sea food.

If there is someone who wants to organize an East Coast Ramble, I will be happy to coach them for the first event. I would love to have an event out there.

But you have to get your own travelling awards.... like the Crimson Shaft, the Elegance Award, and the Hildreth Award.

You going to teach them how to recruit volunteers then go AWOL? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Yep, keeping it in the MID-US is likely a definition thing. Wish I could have made it. So many people to harass and so little time... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Eureka Springs Ar. is the place to come. Hi I am Bob McCool aka Biker Bob. I live in Eureka and own the Riders Rest Motel.

We have the most twisties in the Ozarks.

We are a days drive from Dallas as well as many other cities.

Hopefully you have not been here before.

My motel along with the ajacent motel can provied the required rooms at reasonable rates. I am avaliable to co-ordinate local arrangments and will gladly provide tour maps of the most agressive and senic routes. We have lots of parking. We are located near the edge of town away from the sometimes conjested downtown area. We have outdoor areas for you to kick back with a camp fire, a beer, and friends.

I will have to work on a location for the A/X We are located on top of a mountian but I have something in mind.

Our historic district is listed on the National Historic Register. We are a quite Victorian Village blessed with the best touring roads in the Ozarks. We have roads that rival Deals Gap except they go on and on with very little traffic. A different tour route everyday.

Here are some websites you might want to visit.

eurekasprings.org
Crusing the Ozarks
Arkansas Parks & Tourism (watch the Let's Ride video)
ridersrestmotel.com
countrymountianinn.com/

Although some information is directed at motorcycles you will get the an idea of what to expect.

Yes I know my website says Bikers Only but I am willing to make my one exception for 914's.

I wish thank everyone who helped me through the restoration of my 72 2.0 L. It would have bee much harder with all the help from this sight. Choose Eureka for
MUSR 12 and I know everyone will have a great time. Bob

You have my vote. Somebody had told me about your motel but I don't remember who. The roads are without a doubt some of the best in the central US and the beauty of the Ozarks is hard to beat. One of the reasons the 2nd largest Porsche gatherings takes place there every year with Porsche Palooza. Not sure your motel would meet our needs though as we like to have our awards banquet on site so everybody can get their drink on & not have to drive afterwards. Maybe you have a place we could have it catered in & I just don't know about it. I will contact you and get more info if the general consensus agrees on the location.

Location was really a no brainer. Now we just have to make sure the facility fits our needs & standards. We generally stay at a hotel similar to where we just were so I'm not sure a motel will fit the bill. We definitely need a banquet room for Saturday night festivities.

Clay et al,

This sounds like a great location! I just hope we get our car our of the paint shop in time to put it back together for the MUSR 12. Donna said that she might even have to get a wrench out to help make sure we get it back together in time for this event.
