It's not my style but when you see the car, it makes sense. History and specs are what counts. I plan to remove colors and leave plain or powder coat black. I wasn't planning on buying an engine for the car- yet, but this was too good of an engine for too good of a deal to pass up. I would have bought it if it was pink and purple polka dots. Before you get the lower covers powder-coated remember to get the fins machined down so you can do valve adjustments without dropping the motor.
But definately do something about those colors (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aaron.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/spank.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/theexperience_hud.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/gayfight.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Do you have a bead blaster? Maybe I should grab an oven from one of my distress properties and try some DIY powdercoat. yep ogt a blast cabinet all loaded with glass bead. If the parts are powder coated they need to be chemically stripped.Blasting won't do it. I have the stripper, the pieces need to soak ( usually overnight will do ) then scrubbed clean, washed and then blasted.

What the hell, the car is getting a six that is not OEM, so paint it whatever color fits your fancy. I like the wild stuff.

Don't go black.
Go with something that reflects light, not absorbs it. The engine compartment of a 914 is a dark enough place to try and work, painting it all black only makes matters worse. Plus, black hides the oil leaks and gunk buildup. Zach |
