There seems to be enough interest to put this together. I have an upholsty guy that that can redo the visors, but need cores to refurbish. Originally I was planning to make the internal structure, but it would save some time and effort (as well as cash) to just use the old substructure.
You would be looking at a high quality vinyl that would be stitched on the edges. I know the OEM was thermally bonded, but the cost to set up and do that would double the cost at less that 100 sets. So, they're not exactly like OEM, but they will have the mirror sewn in like the OEM. I'm working on the sample with the mirror, and will have it in a few weeks. I will also make new visor clips available if you wish for $50 a set of all 3. These are the ones with the stainless pins. This will be only to those that are in on the visor refurb deal. Just chime in on the thread here to get yourself on the list. As soon as it looks like we've got the 20 sets, I'll send the details. Thanks, I need to do a set myself, so this will help me too. Here's is a picture of a protype. Attached image(s) |

Hey Mikey I would love to get in on this. Is it possible to get it done in leather? With pockets on both visors, no mirror? Really want to get the whole interior in leather at some point but this is a good start. Thanks Nate I'm sure it can be done, the materials cost will be a little different. I'll have to get back to you with cost. No problem. I'm probably going to take my 914 to my wedding and the outside looks cool the interior is rather shabby. |

With all the holidays and the other production stuff going on I will not be able to get these going until after 1st of the year. -Mark |

Mark, I got your cold impersonal group e-mail. I cried for 4 minutes and 23 seconds. We've broken bread together man! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) Seriously, You want the core to be 'stripped' what does this mean? |

Sorry Rob,
Didn't realize you would be so hurt. I'll smooth it over with a beer or two next time I'm in SAC. It is a good question as to what is meant about stripped down. I need only the interior metal parts to rebuild these. I was looking for one of my cores to put some pictures up of exactly what I mean, I can do that tomorrow evening. I didn't think my visors were too bad till I grabbed them today and they had that nice crunchy feel, haha. PM me the info, thanks. I may go leather if the price diff isn't so bad, so an estimate on that would be cool.

I'll have to finalized the numbers for a leather upgrade when my guy is back in town after the first of the year. -Mark PS I'm still looking for a bad set of visors to gut and take some pictures. |
