what are my options to replace my rear trans mounts? my old ones are shot. it looks like the oem ones are nla. do the 911 ones need to be modified to make work? what about the WEVO 914 Semi-Solid Engine Mount, BLUE PILLOWS. are they worth the extra dough? are the blue pillows direct bolt ins?

There's a couple of different options. If you want to call us tomorrow (# is in my signature below), Jonathan or I can fill you in.

the 911 units are direct bolt in. I've got those to stiffen up the shifting in my car.

GPR probably has them for a great price, and the service is a-ok!

i beleive the 911 engine mounts are exactly the same thing as a 914 trans mount.

but someone who actuallly knows something will probably chime in here.

The engine and trans mounts on certain years of 911's are the same part...

eBay ad for 911 engine/trans mounts These are similar to the ones that I have under my car. I need one more to run as an engine mount... I should call GPR myself. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Direct bolt up, but talk with GPR about what they have and your options. You don't have to have solid mounts for a street car IMHO...

911 ones are pretty good for a street car. I've got the solid engine mounts at the ends of the engine mount bar for my v6 turbo engine, and then the bar mounts are solid to the engine. They want replaced. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The 911 trans/engine mounts have the inverted parentheses-shaped rubber that gives extra strength while providing a good vibration dampening.

(and I know this isn't the only option) Please post with what you go with, as my setup needs altered as well.

i know what you mean about solid mounts. my engine and trans were solid on my class 5 car. and i could FEEL every tooth on on every gear. solid mounts have their place. but not on a street/dd car.

i will post up on what i go with. im gonna call gpr in the morning. thanks for all your input.

The 911 sport motor mounts can be used as a direct replacement for the 914 transmission mounts. Depending on your car you might have to oval out the mounting holes just a tiny bit.

Just make sure you reuse all of the hardware and washers, including the large cup-washer!

im leaning towards the 911's. there cheaper, and if there is little modifications, i think they'll be just fine.

I dig my Tarrett solid rear mounts.

IMHO it will give you the most crisp shifting possible.

solid mounts transfer noise, vibration and stress into the chassis and should only be used in the most serious race only applications.

911 mounts on mine. Did have to just slightly slot the holes with a dremmel to get them in. Two years for me. And I (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) GPR. I try them first on all my parts.

The search function works well:

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...2&hl=mounts

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...5&hl=mounts

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...=96869&st=0

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...c=90751&hl=

That's just from the first page after the search was completed. There's tons and tons of really good threads on Tranny mounts that span all the known products and vendors.

Just search and read. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) very slight ovaling of the mounting holes, check how much before egging out..

above is 911 sport motor mount..

Attached Image

above is the factory 914 transmission mount. HTF but there is a pair of NOS on ebay at $99.99 each under search term Porsche 914 NOS.

both have rubber involved but the 911 style is stiffer and does not hang as far as the 914 factory Version..

If you think the 914 is noisey now, just put some solid mounts in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

It also puts a ton of extra stress on 40 year old spot welds.
