Here's a picture of my car (that Dan mentions above). It's a late model year '73 2.0 - build date of 6/73. Notice the black bumpers, black trim surrounding the back of the targa bar, and the lack of vinyl on the sail panels.
I've tried to find out more about these black trim 2.0's from '73 but information on these seems to have fallen through the cracks. As best as I can tell, relatively few USA-spec 2.0's were trimmed out like this -- most are 1.7's. They were built in the second half of the model year, from as early as 3/73 and possibly earlier, onward. You can read more about this model in a thread I started here: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=112525 If you read through the thread I linked, you'll see that the car was outfitted to fit into a gap in the price between the standard 1.7 and the fully optioned 2.0. Basically, the car was stripped of most of the options from the Appearance group except the center console and retained most of the options from the Performance group. In the back: black bumper, black trim around the targa bar, no vinyl on sail panels (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/s2.postimage.org-12234-1300299119.1.jpg) In the front: black bumper, no fog lights (skirt below valance is aftermarket) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/s2.postimage.org-12234-1300299120.2.jpg) |
