Lots more rust holes in that tub. They just aren't as large.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Looks like he's got a pretty good replacement piece to swap it with. It's gonna look good when it's done! |

Mike,
Glad to see the pics and it's good to see progress! (yeh, I see the holes... "facts are your friends") I'm looking forward to seeing it complete! (I'm sure you are too -- heh) Good luck with the project, and definitely continue with the pics! kim. |

Thanks guys.
I'm going to ask Mark if he can get some pics of the rust holes around the tub. I'm curious to see if the dipping turned up any rust that I didn't already know about. |

That's the way to do it Gint! You will get evey rust hole this way and have a perfect car! What color and brand of paint? base / clear or single stage? How are you going to restore the seam sealer, did you take or have before shots of factory original?

My two cents worth: screw the seam sealer, it is nasty stuff and traps water to form new rust. See pictures of the seam sealer I removed that looked good on the outside and was rusting at the seam on my "Restoration Part Trois" thread. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ar15.gif)

QUOTE(SP9146 Posted on Jun 14 2004 @ 10:15 PM ) What color and brand of paint? base / clear or single stage? How are you going to restore the seam sealer, did you take or have before shots of factory original? I'm assuming the paint will end up being some kind of PPG product since the primer is PPG DP40 (according to PPG's web site: D834 DP40 , a chromate-free epoxy primer which provides a high degree of adhesion both to bare metal and a wide range of plastics.) But I need to get the painter (dlpenserini, aka Brandon) to have a look at this thread. In fact I need to talk to him directly. He and MarkD are doing the rust/body/paint work. The color will be the factory color for the car, tangerine. As for the seam sealer, not sure yet what will happen there. As for before pictures, go backwards in this thread. It's loaded with 'em. |

Thanks Kim. If Shar finds a job before the end of February it won't even have to sit in the garage doing nothing waiting on $$$.

Drool drool DROOL. God it's amazing to think of that tube as being a totally complete rust free 914/6 considering it's beginnings as such a rust bucket with body damage. It's gona be beautiful and deffinatly worth the wait! This project has always kept my intrestet, it's great to see it nearing body completion! Congrats Gint!. By the way, what color? Are you gona go stock with the orange, or something totally different?

Heh -- I'm sure I"m not alone on this -- I look forward to the coming out party (or at least really great pics of it) whenever it is!
