I have quite a bit of fluid running out of the transaxle at the seals at the inner CV joints and I guessing the seals are shot. Probably original.
Can you remove only the 4 bolts and swing the axles shaft and CV joint out the way to get to the flange and then the seals? I seem to remember there is some slop on the outer CV joint that will allow the axle shaft to move around a bit once the inner bolts are removed.
I am hoping I don't have to remove the heat exchangers and the big castle nut.
Can I get at these seals without removing the HE's and entire half shaft.
Thanks for the advice.

yes, the side shaft seals can be replaced in the car. no need to remove exchangers just unbolt the CV joint swing it out of the way and remove the flange. I did one in the car earlier this year and it was fairly easy. use new washers on the CVs.

The leak is definitely tranny fluid. I can see where it is coming out at the side seal and running down the side of the transaxle case.

easy fix.
Unbolt axle and move it.
Large bolt removes the flange.
Seal is simple.

It is an easy fix. The hardest part was pulling the old seal out.
