I am looking to replace the exhaust muffler system on my car and need some guidence on whats available for the 914 2.0 and what would be recommended to get the best sound and performance from the car. I have been looking at the Manza Exhaust system but I am not sure what if any drawback thier would be to installing that type of muffler system.

I had a Monza type ehaust on my 2.0 when I bought it last month and it was heavy and loud. Personally I like the Bursch that most 914 owners recommened and I am very happy with the system. It's light and sounds nice. It is well engineered. I am converting to a 1.7 system and this will be avilable soon. It has perhaps 100 miles on it.

Pelican and Tweeks sells them new.

Hi Jim! Glad to see you posting!

You can do a search of the archives. However, for cost and performance for a stock/street setup, the general consensus seems to be that the Bursch muffler is the best value.

There are stainless mufflers out there... bring money.

Hope this helps,
-Lawrence

SS HE's and the Bursch muffler seem to be the best bang for the buck. you may pick up a couple hp. sounds nice, IMHO -- nice low tone without annoying resonances.

i keep hearing bad things about the monza, others may chime in. it sounds a bit raspy for my tastes.

or, put a header on it!

Well it sounds like the Bursch muffler wins. The muffler on my car is functional but I don't know that I care for the sound it puts out and besides that it is all rusted looking on the outside. What is the standard muffler that came with the 2.0 914's?

Come to Marina A/X and listen to my Bursch on the 2.0 for yourself. I like the sound it makes on decel under load.

Nice fit with the chrome tip out the stock valance slot.

Hmmm....No mention of the Triad exhaust? I thought that they were the 'shizzle' (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Nice looking Exhaust setup. It looks lighter than the Manza Exhaust .

Yep, me too. Swapped out a 4-tip Monza for it, and haven't looked back since.

You can't beat the sound, the look, and the construction. Mine was made by the late David Said; good man, and great workmanship.

My vote is for Kerry Hunter Headers. Beautiful workmanship, great sound. I've already have a set of his 914-6 headers for when I do my engine swap.

whatever setup you get (I recommend the Bursch muffler), make sure you keep your stock system since I believe you have to get your car smogged at least one more time.

What part of Antioch are you in? I'm off of Hillcrest & Sterling Hill

I noticed Performance Products sells a Sebring exhaust for around $120. Piece of shit? Anyone have any experience with the Sebrings? Looks like both pipes run into a single muffler then the tailpipe goes out the stock valance spot.

I do like the balance look of the Triad system with the two tail pipes. That is one of the reasons I was looking at the Monza setup but I havn't heard anything good about it. What did you have to do to modify the rear valance for the tail pipe on the passanger side. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Ya that is something else else that I was wondering about. Just how much modification one can do and still stay smog legal.

I live on Pronghorn Court just off Asilomar road.
